Theatre Director

Kellie is a theatre director and teaching artist working and living on Jaara country.
Her practice focusses on the creation of new work, through collaboration with playwrights and director-led devising processes, as well as revitalising classic texts.
Having originally trained as an actor, she is deeply interested in the actor's process and how as a director she can best facilitate rigorous exploration of the text and/or source material, while also maintaining a safe and playful climate in the rehearsal room in which creativity can flourish.
Kellie has worked and had works performed at Federation University, La Mama, Theatre Works, Soho Theatre, Hackney Empire, Edinburgh Fringe, Melbourne Fringe, Adelaide Fringe and Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Comments:
"Under Kellie Tori’s direction, (Wil Greenway) eases his audience into his show, initially leaving the door open and the lights on, then slowly wrapping them up in a cotton-wool cocoon with his off-beat imagery and quirky humour."
- Fergus Morgan | The Stage | The Ocean After All
"It really is utterly transporting – a crackling campfire of a storytelling show." Fergus Morgan | The Stage | Either Side of Everything
"...this production is a poignant, simplistic piece of theatre that warms and breaks your heart...directed by Kellie Tori - I imagine all involved are beaming with the success they had at Edinburgh Fringe, selling out and walking off with a few awards, and I have no doubt this show is have the same success this festival."
- Joana Simmons | Theatre Press | The Way the City Ate the Stars
